I wanted to share a project that aims to extend the power of KumoMTA by providing a robust, enterprise-grade management layer and UI. PostMTA is a self-hosted platform designed to simplify the deployment, orchestration, and monitoring of KumoMTA-based infrastructure.
We’ve built this to help teams leverage the high performance of KumoMTA while adding the high-level features typically found in expensive SaaS ESPs—all while maintaining 100% data sovereignty.
AI-Powered “Zero-Touch” Deployment: PostMTA features a unique deployment system using a local LLM (Qwen2.5-Coder) that monitors the installation process. It detects environment-specific failures (like port conflicts or missing dependencies) and applies auto-healing fixes in real-time.
Comprehensive Console UI: A full dashboard for managing your email operations, moving beyond the CLI to provide visual insights into delivery performance, queue status, and reputation.
71+ REST API Endpoints: A developer-first approach with extensive endpoints for single or batch sending (up to 100 per request), domain management, and credentialing.
Advanced Deliverability Suite:
vMTA & Warmup Control: Automated state machines for IP/vMTA warming and granular pause/resume controls.
DKIM & BIMI Management: Automated DKIM key generation, rotation, and BIMI record verification.
ISP-Level Analytics: Detailed time-series data and bounce categorization to identify exactly where and why messages are being deferred.
Security & Compliance: Built-in security suite including greylisting stats, DNSBL monitoring, and spam score analysis.
Multi-Tenant Infrastructure: Includes a credit management and billing system, making it ideal for agencies or teams running internal ESP services.
Modern Tech Stack: Utilizes PostgreSQL 16 and Redis 7 for high-performance queuing and state management.
We believe KumoMTA is the future of high-volume email. PostMTA is designed to lower the barrier to entry for enterprises that need Kumo’s speed but require a GUI-based management interface, detailed reporting, and a robust API for their developers.
