Are there any hardware recommendations for KumoProxy?

Are there any hardware recommendations for KumoProxy? Looking to deploy a $5 VM for KumoProxy (1 vCPU/1GB RAM). Would that be enough?

Also, if a KumoMTA instance cannot connect to the proxy for some reason, how does it react? Does it hold the emails and reattempt later based on the max_age configuration?

Can we pretty please get binaries for Ubuntu 24.04 LTS? Building from source on a 1 vCPU server is a bit.. excruciating

 Haha, is the customer how strict the server is?

Uh no.

1cpu/1gb ram will not even function.

Yes I tried

Part of this research was also going in the opposite directions to see how small I could go.

The Ubuntu 22 install works on 24. I use it all the time

KumoProxy is kumo socks5? not kumomta service ,right?

Oooohh. Sorry. I completely misread that. Ugh.

So…. BKSPC, full reverse. Let’s start over. :man_facepalming:

You don’t need to build from source, you can do a normal binary install and only use the proxy server. If you are deploying In AWS, you can install on something larger, then resize. I still don’t think I would go as small as 1/1

I have NOT done the same kind of performance testing on that component as I did not the MTA.

We have discussed the possibility of creating KumoProxy as its own binary, but there has not been enough demand to make it a priority over other work.

I have installed kumoproxy(socks5) in 2C 4G ,but only 700MB used. CPU only 10% .

Just deployed Socks5 with vCPU

Works fine!

Sweet

In theory, proxy doesn’t have to do a lot of work
